Official Masai Mara park fees for 2026 planning
The Maasai Mara National Reserve fee schedule sets its green/low season from 1 January to 30 June and high season from 1 July to 31 December. The schedule also makes three details easy to miss:
- Fees are per person, per day.
- A ticket is valid for 12 hours for day use.

Vehicle charges are separate
Vehicle entry is in addition to each traveler’s entry fee. The official schedule lists KES 1,000 per day for vehicles under six seats; KES 1,500 for six to twelve seats; KES 3,500 for 13–24 seats; KES 4,500 for 25–44 seats; and KES 5,000 for vehicles with 45 or more seats. This does not mean every traveler pays the entire vehicle fee personally. How it is allocated depends on whether your vehicle is private or shared and on the operator’s quote. Ask for the basis explicitly.
Lodging: compare like with like
Accommodation is usually the biggest variable after your dates. A tented camp outside the reserve, a lodge inside the reserve, a conservancy camp and a fly-in property offer different experiences, access and price structures. Do not rely on the words “budget,” “mid-range” or “luxury” alone. Ask for the named property, room category, meals, game-drive arrangement, distance from gates or river areas, and any conservation or activity fees.
Migration timing affects both demand and the official park rate. The Reserve says major concentrations commonly reach the Mara during the northern phase from July to October, and notes that its high-season rate aligns with peak migration demand.
