Watamu Beach is a pristine beach, located about 110 Kilometers north of Mombasa city. Watamu’s white sandy beach and crystal-clear waters make it an excellent location for various water activities as well as Safaris in the neighboring National Parks as well as marine Park.

Watamu beach is well known for its pristine white sand and also close the Watamu National Marine Park. The marine park is a great spot for scuba diving or snorkeling.

The Watamu Marine National Park which located just 1 km off the coast of the Watamu Beach is part of a complex of marine and tidal habitats with is home to diverse bird life, fish, turtles and dugongs, The marine park itself is home to 600 fish species, 110 species, 110 species of stony coral, and countless invertebrates, crustaceans and molluscs.

The coral reefs also help to create breaks for surfing enthusiasts while on Kenya beach Safaris.

Watamu beach boasts a number of the excellent beach front hotels and restaurants , allowing you to spend the whole day or even an overnight trip enjoying the environment.

Day 1: Nairobi - Watamu

Transfer from your hotel to Wilson Airport for your 1400 Hrs flight to Malindi to arrive at 16:05 Hrs

Transfer from the airport to Turtle Bay Beach Resort or Sun Palm Beach Besort or The Charming Lonno Lodge

Check in, relax in your room or take a walk along the white sandy beach to enjoy the gentle zephyr of a breeze, blowing onshore from the Indian Ocean before joining other travelers for a well deserved dinner.

In the evening, enjoy Traditional African Tribal Dancers, Theme Nights, Acrobats, Quiz Nights, Snake Shows or Dancing under a tropical starlit sky with live music or disco.

Day 2: Experience Watamu Beach
Experience Watamu

After breakfast, you may may consult the Hotels management for any of the excursions availabe in Watamu like the following: –

Experience Kenya’s own Grand Canyon! After a scenic drive through Malindi, over the Sabaki River Bridge and through rural villages, enjoy the views of this naturally eroded landscape. Descend into the “Kitchen” with a local guide who will point out strange features carved by wind and rain; a map of Africa, a rhino head and a sacred worship site.

Depart Watamu – 8.00 am Return to Watamu – 1pm

N.B. This excursion may not be advisable for those with a strong fear of heights, walking difficulties or medical conditions.

Sundowners:

Enjoy a trip at Mida Creek, just 10 minutes drive from Turtle Bay, a place well known for its migratory birds, like Wolly Necked Storks, Herons, Flamingos and many more or simply relax on board viewing the sunset with delicious snacks and drinks.

Another option is the lobster lunch cruise, starting at 11 am and stopping for BBQ next to Sudi island. Enjoy grilled Lobster and Jumbo Prawns on board and later on take a stroll around the island and end up with a dip in Mida Creek. Sailing home by 4 pm after a memorable day.

She carries up to 35 people and the dhow can be rented as well for weddings and private functions.

Exploring the Mida Creek in a dhow is a truly African experience.

Day 3: Malindi Tour
Malindi Tour

After breakfast you may chose to observe the vibrant marine life or simply unwind amidst the palms and silver sands of Watamu Beach, a set of beaches near a fishing village. With offshore coral formations lying within a marine national park, the beach has some of Kenya’s best snorkeling and diving spots, revealing a wide array of multicolored species.

Alternatively, you can take a glass-bottomed boat trip to witness the reef. Keep your eye out for sea turtles, and during low tide, explore countless pools with an abundance of creatures.Discover the huge variety of marine life in Africa’s first marine park, Watamu National Marine Park in a glass-bottom boat, mask and snorkel, marine park fees.

Departure – at low tides. Call Discovery office to confirm. Duration – 2 hours.

A visit to the local town of Malindi packed with activities for everyone. Starting off at the Malindi Falconry, kids may ride the Giant Aldabra Tortoise, and anyone can stroke Verreaux’s Eagle Owl or a bush baby, and maybe even have the chance to fly a bird of prey.

At the Crocodile Farm and Snake Park, Honorary KWS Warden, Mark Easterbrook will show you his crocodiles wrestle for meat and snakes devouring their prey during feeding time.

Finally wander amongst the friendly woodcarvers of Malindi Handicraft Co-operative as they demonstrate their trade. Finished pieces are on sale for souvenirs and gifts.

Day 4: Visit to Mida Creek

This day will be full of adventure as you visit Arabuko Sokoke forest and as the name suggest, the Sokoke Scops Owl, Sokoke Pipit, Amani Sunbird, and Spotted Ground Thrush can only be found at the forest in Kenya. The forest offers three forest types and dozens of bird and mammal species. Also found is Waterbuck and Common Duiker. See also the mangrove and the dense forest where seasonal pools can burst into life following a tropical downpour. Keep your eyes open for Green Mamba and Rock Python. Stretching from Arabuko Sokoke is Mida Creek, a broad water tidal creek surrounded by extensive mangroves and lined with palms. Mida creek is made of sea grass and coral a home to many fish species and feeding sea turtle. Mida is also a stopover for many migratory birds. The creek is also ideal for water-skiing and wake-boarding. Return to the resort for dinner and overnight.

Day 5:Departure: Watamu - Nairobi

Being the last day of your Kenyan Beach Safari, take some time and capture your last moments on the sandy beaches.

Enjoy your last shots at the beach and within the hotel environs as you prepare for your flight departure right after lunch.

Drop off to the airport for your flight back to Nairobi or Mombasa
